Heathrow Sprint: Feasibility Cost Planning

Overview In this Sprint with Heathrow, you’ll take on the role of a quantity surveyor and put forward a feasibility cost plan for a proposed VIP lounge. You’ll need to be realistic and think practically about what you can afford! What's Included This Sprint allows you to carry out a real-world task and will give you a taste of what a future in quantity surveying could look like. You’ll learn more about the role of a quantity surveyor, and gain insight into why thinking strategically about financial decisions really matters. Your Mentor, Supun, will provide you with the context you need to try out this task for yourself. You’ll learn from Supun in explainer and debrief videos, and compare your answers with his suggestions to refine your abilities further. Meet the Mentor In this introductory module, you’ll meet with your mentor for this Sprint, Supun. Supun will provide a breakdown of the Sprint and give an overview of the activity. He will also give you some valuable tips on how to build a career in his field - so stay switched on and listen up! Project Brief Now that you’ve been introduced to your Mentor, and have some context for the activity, it’s time to discover the project brief! Your mentor will brief you on your project and give you all the information you need to complete the task. Project Debrief Once you’re happy and have submitted your answers, you’ll be given the chance to assess how you’ve done! Your mentor will go over how he would have approached the task, and you’ll also be able to download his model answer so that you can compare his work to your own. By the end of this Sprint, you’ll have had a real glimpse into the commercial world and the type of project you could work on.
