About the role: The IT Support Technician Apprentice is an important part of the IT team. The school is increasingly dependent on its IT systems working properly and efficiently. You will be responsible for system wide technical support including: workstations, laptops, printers, audio-visual, telecoms and printing. In co-operation with teachers you will support the teaching of IT by preparing relevant materials and working alongside pupils and teachers in the IT suites. Responsibilities: Handle frontline queries from various sources including email, helpdesk and telephone Maintain communication with users, updating requests logged on the school’s ticketing system, and escalating them within the team as required Install and maintain computer hardware, workstations, laptops, audio/visual equipment and peripherals Maintain an up-to-date inventory of IT equipment Assist with the expansion of the school network infrastructure including switches, cabling and wireless network equipment Routine administration including iPad maintenance, data backups, workstation health checks, anti-virus scans Software installation, maintenance and upgrading Support staff and pupils with the set-up and preparation of IT equipment around the school Provide high quality customer focused technical support and training to non-teaching and teaching staff and to pupils Assist with the set-up of AV equipment for lectures and presentations Essential skills: Good IT skills, hardware knowledge and familiarity with the full range of Microsoft products (including Office 365), Google Workspace and operating systems Awareness of cyber security requirements Health and safety awareness Ability to work independently or as part of a team Ability to take initiative Good communication skills, both written and verbal Excellent organisational skills Ability to prioritis
