British Airways has opened a Data Science degree apprenticeship at Heathrow for September 2027. The advertised starting salary is £27,611, and the employer gives 19 November 2026 as the closing date. There is a catch worth reading before you press Apply: BA says it will consider only your first application if you apply for more than one of its apprenticeship programmes.
That makes this a choice of scheme, not a chance to send the same form to every BA opening. We checked the live Data Science vacancy and BA's 2027 apprenticeship overview on 21 October 2026.
Is this actually a degree apprenticeship?
Yes. BA's overview names a BSc Data Science (Integrated Degree), Level 6. The vacancy says the degree is with Northeastern University London. The programme lasts three and a half years and is based at London Heathrow. BA describes work with its Data and AI team on data science, engineering and visualisation, including analysis that informs commercial and operational decisions.
Do not confuse it with BA's Business apprenticeship. That is a three-year head-office rotation, and its overview says the first year leads towards a Business Administration qualification. If you want the data degree, check that the application you start is titled Apprentice - Data Science, reference 12396.
Check the entry bar before starting the application
BA asks for GCSE English and Maths at grades 9–4, or equivalent. You must hold, or be predicted, three A levels totalling at least 128 UCAS points, with at least a B in A-level Maths, or equivalent. BA gives ABB as an illustration of 128 points. The Maths grade is a separate condition: a points total on its own does not satisfy it.
If you are waiting for predicted grades, check both parts with your school or college. If your qualification is an equivalent rather than A levels, use BA's application information to check how it will assess it. We cannot decide equivalence from a headline points figure.
The deadline includes the tests
The vacancy says all sections of the application, including online tests, must be complete by 19 November 2026. BA directs applicants first to its Discover & Prep hub for a pre-application task. After applying, candidates receive online assessments; successful candidates move to a video interview, then an assessment centre planned for January or February 2027.
The useful implication is simple: 19 November is a completion deadline, not a sensible evening to begin. Give yourself room to finish the hub task, submit the form and take the tests. Put each stage and its actual invitation deadline in your application tracker. If the video stage is new to you, our apprenticeship video interview guide explains a way to practise without memorising a script.
BA also warns that missing a stage deadline means automatic withdrawal. Check every email from its portal rather than assuming the main vacancy date applies to later tasks.
Decide whether Data Science is your one BA application
Read the Data Science job description for the work itself. It mentions measuring fare changes and revenue against targets, cleaning and analysing data, and turning findings into reports for decisions. Then compare BA's other schemes on its apprenticeship page. Several engineering routes involve aircraft maintenance and different qualifications; the Business route moves through head-office departments.
Choose the work you would want to learn for three and a half years. The airline name and travel benefit are real, but neither tells you whether you would enjoy cleaning a dataset or explaining a result to colleagues.
BA links to a free Data Science simulation on its vacancy page. It is a way to test your interest and gather something concrete to discuss. BA does not say completing it guarantees an interview. For the application itself, describe a project, school task or part-time job where you worked through a problem and explained what you found. The employer specifically asks applicants to avoid AI-written answers that sound unlike them.
This is one verified opening among many search results. Our database counted 6,162 active opportunities, including 274 tagged as degree apprenticeships, on 21 October 2026. Those tags are search aids, not a claim that every listing has been checked against an employer page. Use Discover to compare live roles, then confirm the details on each employer's site.
One application is a real constraint
BA's first-application rule changes how you should shortlist its schemes. Check the degree, location, entry requirements and day-to-day work first. Then use the official vacancy link to start the one that fits. The advertised deadline is 19 November; recheck it when you apply because employers can change or close a vacancy.
