Capgemini has four different technology degree apprenticeship adverts open today. Two are based in Telford, one in Hove, and one offers Manchester or Newcastle as an office base. They are easy to mistake for variations of the same job. The work, degree and time commitment differ.
We checked all four Capgemini careers adverts on 20 October 2026. Each still showed an Apply now link. None of the four employer pages stated an application deadline. GOV.UK lists 31 January 2027 for consulting, SAP and engineering. The UX employer advert does not give a date. Check the live application portal before you rely on any deadline.
Choose the work before the location
If you enjoy making sense of messy information and explaining it to clients, the Capgemini Invent consulting route is the closest match. It names data analyst, software engineer and IT consultant pathways, with a 10-week university bootcamp before joining a Public Sector or Enterprise Data & Analytics team. Your office base would be Manchester or Newcastle, but Capgemini warns that client work can require travel and time away from home.
The SAP route in Hove is more specific. You would configure and test the systems businesses use for finance, HR and supply chains, then help solve users' problems. It suits someone curious about how a large organisation actually runs, rather than someone looking only to write code.
The engineering route in Telford can lead into data engineering or software engineering. Its advert mentions building data pipelines, dashboards, applications and systems. Capgemini says the track depends on your skills and interests; the advert does not promise that every applicant can choose any track.
The other Telford role is customer experience and UX design. Here the work begins with users: research what they need, then help design clearer websites, apps and services. If you like psychology and testing ideas with people, this is a materially different application from the engineering one at the same office.
The study commitment is different too
The consulting, SAP and engineering adverts describe three-year programmes with a degree from Sheffield Hallam University and a 10-week campus bootcamp at the start. Their government listings identify the training as Digital and Technology Solutions Professional, Level 6, and give a 13 September 2027 start. The UX advert describes four years of part-time study with Manchester Metropolitan University, whose course page confirms the Level 6 qualification. Capgemini says its UX intake is September 2027.
All four adverts state a £26,500 starting salary. The same pay does not make the travel costs the same. Hove and Telford roles ask you to live within commuting distance and typically attend the office up to three days a week. The consulting advert names Manchester or Newcastle as a base but also warns of university and client travel. Work out where you could actually live before choosing a route.
Check the entry rule that could change your choice
Each advert asks for seven GCSEs at grades 4–9 or equivalent, including Maths and English, plus one of three routes: three A-levels at grades A*–C, a completed Level 3 apprenticeship, or a BTEC at Merit, Distinction, Distinction. The UX advert adds relevant industry experience to its Level 3 apprenticeship alternative. Check that detail if it is the qualification route you plan to use. Our guide to GCSE and A-level requirements explains the wider picture, but the advert controls your application.
The Hove, Telford engineering and Telford UX adverts also say the successful candidate must obtain Security Check clearance, including five years' continuous UK residence, with other criteria. The consulting advert describes pre-employment and BPSS checks. These are different statements. Read the exact advert for your chosen role if residence or nationality could affect you.
A sensible next hour
Write down which tasks you want more of: analysing client data, configuring business systems, building software, or researching users. Read the matching employer advert in full. Then check the location, course provider, travel and your qualification route. Ask Capgemini for the deadline if it is not visible in the application portal.
You can search and save the roles in ApprenticeWizard, but use the employer page for the final application check. If you are considering engineering outside technology consulting, Babcock's Bristol routes show how different the work can be under the same degree-apprenticeship label. Keep each employer's portal and stage in your application tracker.
The useful distinction
Four adverts from one employer can look like four chances at the same job. Here they are four different ways to spend the next three or four years. Choose the work you would want to do on an ordinary Tuesday, then check whether its city and study pattern fit your life.
ApprenticeWizard had 6,082 active opportunities, including 273 tagged as degree apprenticeships, in its database on 20 October 2026. These are search counts, not individually verified openings. Start your shortlist here, then confirm each role on the employer's site.
