Goldman Sachs has three apprentice adverts open for its 2027 intake. One is in markets in London. The other two are engineering roles, one in London and one in Birmingham. The application pages look similar, but the degree you study and the work you do are different.
The employer's programme page says applications are open for a September 2027 start. We checked the three individual adverts on 22 October 2026. Each had an Apply link. Goldman Sachs does not state a closing date or a salary figure on those pages. Check the portal again before submitting; do not build your plan around a date you found for a previous intake.
The choice is the work
The FICC and Equities role in London sits in sales and trading. FICC means fixed income, currencies and commodities. The division helps clients buy and sell financial products and manage risk. Goldman Sachs says this route leads to a bachelor's degree in Applied Finance at Queen Mary University of London. If you are interested in how markets work and can explain an idea clearly under pressure, read this advert first.
The London engineering role is about building the systems behind the business. Its advert names software, infrastructure, cyber security and data work. The programme page connects London engineering apprentices to a Digital and Technology Solutions degree at Queen Mary University of London. That is a different degree and a different working day from the markets route, even though the employer and city match.
The Birmingham engineering role is in the same broad discipline, but studies Digital and Technology Solutions at the University of Warwick, according to the programme page. Goldman Sachs announced its Birmingham apprenticeship partnership with Warwick in October 2025. The 2027 advert now has its own Apply link. Birmingham is a real application option, not a location inferred from last year's announcement.
All three are described by Goldman Sachs as four-year degree apprenticeship programmes. Choose the work first, then ask whether the location and university arrangement would fit your life. A cheaper commute is valuable; it cannot make a subject you dislike interesting for four years.
What the adverts leave out
The current pages do not give a pay amount, a closing date or detailed GCSE and A-level grades. Goldman Sachs describes a competitive salary and a funded degree, but that is not enough to calculate your budget or confirm your eligibility. Its programme page says the intake is for students seeking to start an undergraduate degree in September 2027. Do not assume a particular UCAS points threshold from another bank's advert.
If a qualification is borderline, check the live application form and ask the recruiter before ruling yourself out. Our guide to degree apprenticeship entry requirements explains why different employers set different bars. The Goldman Sachs advert is the authority for this application.
The engineering pages describe several kinds of work, including software and cyber security. They do not promise you can choose a specialist team before you join. If that choice matters, ask during the process rather than writing an application as though a particular placement is guaranteed.
How to choose your application
Read one advert in full, then write two short notes. First, name a task in that division you would like to learn. Second, name evidence that you have already tried something related, whether that is a school project, coding exercise, part-time job or your own research. The evidence needs to be real. A markets application that talks only about the Goldman Sachs name says little about why you chose markets.
If you are considering both engineering cities, look at the travel and study commitment separately. The degree providers differ. The employer has not set out the weekly campus pattern on these programme pages, so find out before treating London and Birmingham as interchangeable.
There were 270 active listings tagged as degree apprenticeships among 6,277 active opportunities in the ApprenticeWizard database on 22 October 2026. Those are search counts, not 270 individually checked open places. Goldman Sachs' three adverts were verified on the employer site, but they were not present as degree apprenticeship rows in our database when we checked. Build a wider shortlist and save each application stage in your tracker.
The part worth deciding now
The important question is not whether you can get into Goldman Sachs. It is whether you want to spend four years learning markets or building technology, and where you could afford to live while doing it. Start with the advert whose ordinary work you would want to understand. Then check the gaps before you apply.
