Lloyds announces a 3 November opening for Applied Data & AI. Check the Level 4 start, conditional degree progression and location-specific entry rules.
Lloyds Banking Group's Applied Data & AI apprenticeship starts at Level 4. Its official programme page describes a possible later degree apprenticeship, subject to successful completion and business agreement. If a degree is essential to your choice, that condition needs your attention before you apply.
As checked on 1 November 2026, the official programme page announces that applications open on 3 November. This is an upcoming programme, not a vacancy we have verified as open today. It lists Birmingham, Bristol and Edinburgh, £27,400 and a September 2027 start.
The initial programme summary gives a duration of 18 months and calls the qualification a Level 4 Data Analyst Apprenticeship with BPP. The body uses a different name, Level 4 Applied Data and AI Specialist. Both describe a Level 4 start. They do not establish the exact final award in the same way.
Ask the recruitment team which qualification and apprenticeship standard will appear in your offer. Keep the answer with your application notes. A useful question is: “What qualification does the initial programme award, and what conditions govern progression to the degree apprenticeship?”
The page describes a broader three-to-four-year journey across two apprenticeships. It also says progression to the degree route is subject to business agreement. Do not turn that into a guaranteed degree place or assume the 18-month summary covers the whole journey. The employer needs to explain how the stages fit together for your location.
Our guide to degree apprenticeships and university can help you compare routes. For this programme, make the comparison using the initial Level 4 offer and the conditional progression separately.
For the England locations, Lloyds lists three A levels at CCC and GCSE Maths and English at grades 4–9. It says you must be at least 18 on 1 September 2027.
For Edinburgh, it lists four Highers at BBCC and National 5 Maths and English at A–C. The age requirement is at least 18 by the end of February 2028. The employer says predicted grades can be used, with any offer conditional on achieving the qualifications.
These are the published routes, not an assessment of every equivalent qualification. If your qualifications do not fit those descriptions, ask Lloyds rather than converting grades yourself and assuming acceptance.
The page also requires a valid UK right to work and says it cannot offer visa sponsorship for these apprenticeship roles. Its right-to-work section refers to a programme lasting up to five years, which does not align neatly with the shorter durations elsewhere on the page. If this affects you, request the precise employment and immigration requirements for the route before relying on a summary.
The advertised salary is £27,400. Lloyds expects you to work from your primary office location throughout the programme. Although it describes a general hybrid policy of at least two office days a week, it says apprentices should expect to attend most days during the initial settling-in period.
That matters if your plan depends on commuting only twice a week. Work out the cost and time of attending more often before deciding the salary makes a location affordable. The employer recommends relocating closer if your commute exceeds an hour and a half; it does not promise relocation support on this page.
The work described includes analysing datasets, building dashboards, using SQL and Python, and explaining findings. Before applying, choose one real example in which you checked information and used it to reach a conclusion. A coursework spreadsheet or personal project can be relevant if you explain your own contribution accurately. This is preparation advice, not a claim that Lloyds requires a particular personal project.
The page prints different closing dates: 1 December for Birmingham, 15 December for Bristol and 12 January for Edinburgh. It does not print years alongside those dates. Check the location-specific application advert when it opens rather than putting an assumed year into your calendar. Lloyds warns that applications can close earlier than advertised.
For now, save the official programme page, write down the qualification questions above and compare your location's published entry requirements with your actual or predicted grades. Then recheck the application route on the announced opening date. The banner announcing 3 November takes precedence over treating generic “apply now” wording elsewhere in the page as proof that applications are already open.
You can compare other apprenticeships on ApprenticeWizard while you wait. Keep alternatives on your list if a guaranteed degree route is a firm requirement for you.
The useful distinction is the offer you can establish now and the progression you still need clarified. A Level 4 start may suit your plans. Make that choice with the conditions visible.
