TLT’s solicitor apprenticeship is open in Birmingham, Bristol, London and Manchester. Its advert asks for 128 UCAS points, gives 21 February 2027 as the closing date and describes the salary only as “competitive”.
Those details matter more than the label on a search result. ApprenticeWizard first found this vacancy on 13 October and recorded Bristol as its city. TLT’s own application page lists four locations. If you ruled it out because Bristol is too far away, look again.
What is open
This is a six-year Level 7 solicitor apprenticeship beginning on 13 September 2027. The government vacancy lists 10 positions in total; it does not say how many are available in each city. BPP University Limited is the training provider.
TLT says applications opened on 28 September 2026. The government advert was posted on 13 October, when the role also entered our database. Those are different dates: “first seen by ApprenticeWizard” does not mean “first opened by TLT”.
The salary needs the same honesty. “Competitive” is not a number, and TLT does not publish a starting figure on this vacancy page. Ask the early careers team for the salary in your chosen office if it affects whether you can afford to take the role.
What the six years involve
TLT divides the apprenticeship into three stages. In years one and two, apprentices work at junior paralegal and paralegal level, with two year-long rotations. Years three and four bring more complex legal work and two further rotations. In years five and six, apprentices join the trainee solicitor cohort, complete four six-month seats and prepare for the Solicitors Qualifying Examinations.
That is a useful way to test whether you want this job. You would spend years researching, drafting, working with clients and learning different areas of law. Read TLT’s programme description for the work behind the title, then think about which parts you can explain an interest in. “I want to be a solicitor” is a starting point, not an application.
Check your eligibility before writing
The employer advert requires 128 UCAS points, shown as ABB at A-level or an equivalent qualification, and the right to work in the UK. TLT says it will verify qualifications before confirming an offer and asks applicants to give realistic predicted or achieved grades.
If you have a different qualification, check how its points are calculated rather than guessing from the ABB example. Our guide to degree apprenticeship entry requirements explains the wider picture; TLT’s vacancy sets the rule for this application.
TLT also gives an address for applicants who need adjustments or support during recruitment: EarlyCareers@tlt.com. Ask early enough for the team to arrange what you need.
What to do before 21 February
- Choose the office you could actually attend. The government listing names Birmingham, Bristol, London and Manchester and says you can select locations in the application. Check the office and travel before committing to one.
- Build evidence for the work. Pick an example that shows careful research, clear writing, listening or handling a difficult detail. Explain what you did and what changed because of it.
- Ask about the missing salary. A six-year commitment deserves a real figure for your location. “Competitive” does not let you work out rent or travel.
- Record the deadline, then check the live page again. Save the role alongside your other applications in ApprenticeWizard’s opportunity search and tracker. Use the employer page for the final status before applying.
When I applied for apprenticeships, I tracked more than 60 applications on a Trello board. The list helped, but the useful decision was which application deserved attention next. TLT’s advertised deadline gives you time to prepare; it does not make every day before February equally useful.
The detail to remember
One database row said Bristol. The employer said four cities. That small mismatch could decide whether someone even considers the role.
Use listings to find opportunities. Use the employer’s current advert to decide.
ApprenticeWizard had 6,054 active opportunities, including 200 tagged as degree apprenticeships, in its database on 14 October 2026. Those are search counts, not a claim that every listing has been individually verified as open. Start your list here, and check each employer advert before applying.
