The BBC says applications for apprenticeship opportunities starting in September 2027 open on 3 November 2026. The date is confirmed on its early careers page.
The page still links to a directory for the 2026 intake and says schemes and levels change each year. The 2027 vacancy list has not been published there yet. Use 3 November as the day to check which adverts the BBC releases.
What the BBC has confirmed
The BBC's early careers overview groups its apprenticeships under Business, Digital Technology & Data, Engineering & Operations, Journalism, and Production. These are broad areas on the current page. They do not confirm that every area will have a 2027 vacancy.
The page gives a September 2027 start and a 3 November 2026 application opening. It does not yet give the 2027 job titles, locations, apprenticeship levels, role-specific salaries, entry requirements, or closing dates. The employer deadline is not stated. The BBC invites candidates to sign up for email updates, which is the simplest way to catch the adverts when they appear.
How the application process works today
The BBC says the stages vary by apprenticeship scheme. Its current application guidance describes an online application form, followed for eligible candidates by an interactive online assessment. Depending on the role, that assessment may use strengths questions, situational judgement exercises, or a job-specific task such as coding. The BBC offers practice and says the assessment takes about 60 to 90 minutes.
For BBC apprenticeship roles, the guidance says you do not need to submit a CV or cover letter. The form itself is where the BBC asks about your eligibility and motivation. Most schemes include a video interview, and the final stage is usually a virtual assessment centre, but the BBC says some schemes use different stages. Read the actual 2027 advert before you prepare for a particular format.
The BBC also says not to submit AI-written application answers or use AI to complete an assessment designed to test your own skills. Use preparation time to gather your own examples. When the form opens, answer the questions in your own words.
What to do before 3 November
Put the opening date in your calendar and sign up for the BBC's early careers updates. Before then, make a short note of projects, responsibilities, or work you have done that you could explain clearly. Keep the details factual: what you were trying to do, what you did, and what happened. You can choose the best example after you see the role requirements.
When the vacancies go live, compare the location, level, qualification, pay, eligibility and deadline on each listing. The 2026 directory may help you understand the kinds of schemes the BBC has run, but the BBC explicitly says schemes and levels can change each year. Base your decision on the new advert.
If you need an adjustment, the BBC's application page says to use its support form and select “Reasonable Adjustment”. ApprenticeWizard founder Yusuf Arfan Ismail has also described asking for adjustments during employer tests in a recent LinkedIn post about his degree-apprenticeship applications. Ask the employer early enough to discuss what will help you take part.
Other 2027 dates already announced
Other official announcements give you more dates to plan around. EDF says further apprenticeship programmes in engineering, project management, chemistry and business will open in January 2027. Its page does not yet state the locations or employer deadlines for those future roles.
National Highways says its 2027 apprenticeship applications will open in February. Its programmes span levels 3 to 6 and several areas, including engineering, digital and data, finance, project management, legal and operations. The employer says role requirements and salaries will be set out when the vacancies are advertised. Specific locations and closing dates are not stated yet.
If you want to look at vacancies while you wait, ApprenticeWizard's database snapshot on 23 October 2026 contained 6,339 active opportunity rows, including 281 rows tagged as degree apprenticeships. Those counts are database records; source categories and duplicate listings still need checking. Follow the employer link before applying. Our Airbus comparison, updated on 23 October, shows the kind of differences you can check between two live 2027 adverts. If an assessment centre is part of a process, our assessment centre guide explains what the format can involve.
