GE Aerospace is taking applications for a 2027 finance degree apprenticeship at its Dowty business in Gloucester. The official vacancy says applications close on Sunday 1 November 2026, but may close sooner if enough people apply.
That leaves little time to check a requirement easy to miss in the job title: the advert asks for achieved or predicted BBB at A-level in Maths, English and one other subject. Read the subjects as well as the grades before you spend an evening on the application.
Is the Dowty finance apprenticeship open now?
Yes. The GE Aerospace careers page displayed an Apply now button when checked on 28 October 2026. It names Gloucester, Gloucestershire as the location and gives job ID R5040793. The deadline is 1 November, with an explicit warning that the advert could close earlier. Check the live employer listing before starting; a deadline is not a promise that the form will stay open until that evening.
ApprenticeWizard first saw a copy of this role on 23 October. That is when it entered our database, not the date GE Aerospace opened applications. Our database had 273 active degree apprenticeship records when checked on 28 October. The employer page is the source for this role's current status.
What degree would you earn?
GE Aerospace describes a three-year programme plus end-point assessment, completed online with the University of Exeter. It says the outcome is a BSc (Hons) in Applied Accounting and a Level 6 degree apprenticeship award.
This is a finance job inside an aerospace business. The advert describes analysing data and producing financial and management information for colleagues, including teams outside finance. If you want to design aircraft components, the job title's employer name can mislead you. If you like using numbers to explain decisions, the actual work may be a better fit than the word “aerospace” first suggests.
The vacancy does not state a salary. Do not use a figure from a different GE Aerospace scheme as if it applies here. The job is based in Gloucester and says relocation assistance is not provided, so work out the journey and living costs before applying.
Who meets the entry requirement?
The employer specifies achieved or predicted A-level grades of BBB in Maths, English and one other subject. This is more specific than a general 120 UCAS-point rule: three Bs in different subjects would not meet the stated combination if Maths or English were missing. The listing does not give an alternative qualification route or a separate GCSE threshold. If your subjects are different, ask GE Aerospace rather than assuming equivalence.
GE Aerospace also says sponsorship is unavailable for its early careers opportunities and that the role requires Baseline Personnel Security Standard checks. Read those sections of the official advert if either affects you.
What should you do before 1 November?
- Check the subjects first. Compare your achieved or predicted A-levels with Maths, English and one other at grade B or above. Keep the wording of the advert beside you.
- Make your CV specific to finance work. The first application stage asks for a CV. Show a piece of analysis, a school or personal project, or paid work where you handled detail and explained a result. Do not invent accounting experience.
- Prepare for the stated stages. GE Aerospace lists a video interview and assessment centre after the initial CV application. Its advert says to submit only one application; if you submit several, it will progress the one it considers most suitable.
- Apply through GE Aerospace's own page. Use the official application link while the vacancy is live. Save the deadline in your application tracker, but treat the early-close warning as real.

The choice behind the deadline
Four days is enough to submit a careful application if this job fits your subjects, location and interest in finance. It is not a reason to rush an application to a role you have not read. The useful first step is the employer listing: check the subjects, check the journey, then decide.
