UBS has a live 2027 asset management apprenticeship advert in London. It asks for ABB at A level, grade 5 in GCSE English Language and grade 6 in GCSE Maths. The work includes client support and performance and risk reports.
There is one line to read twice before you plan around the degree. The individual vacancy says you start with a Level 4 Investment Operations Specialist apprenticeship, move to Level 6 Financial Services Professional, and have the potential to gain a BSc (Honours) degree. UBS's UK school leaver page describes its asset management route as culminating in a BSc (Honours) Applied Finance degree awarded by the University of Exeter.
Those descriptions point in the same direction, but the wording is different. If the degree is the reason you are applying, ask UBS what is included for this exact 2027 vacancy before you accept an offer.
What is open now?
The 2027 asset management advert was live with an Apply button when we checked it on 29 October 2026. The reference is 344528BR and the city is London. UBS gives the programme length as four years. It does not state a salary or closing date in the visible advert.
Our database first recorded the role on 28 October at 11:22 GMT. That is when ApprenticeWizard found it, not a claim about when UBS opened applications. The database's 2036 deadline is a placeholder. Do not put it in your calendar.
At the time of this check, ApprenticeWizard had 6,037 active opportunities across all types and 3,090 employers. Start with the current listings, then use the employer advert to confirm the details before applying.
Is it a degree apprenticeship from day one?
The vacancy's first qualification is Level 4. It says progression to a Level 6 Financial Services Professional apprenticeship follows completion of that stage. Its degree wording is conditional: “potential to gain” a BSc. The wider UBS programme page describes a BSc (Honours) Applied Finance degree, with the University of Exeter as the awarding institution.
It would be easy to flatten those sentences into “a guaranteed degree”. The individual advert does not say that. Before committing to a four-year route, ask the recruitment team whether every person appointed to reference 344528BR is enrolled on the Exeter degree, what must happen to progress from Level 4 to Level 6, and whether the BSc depends on performance or a separate decision. Keep the answer with your application notes.
The same care applies when you compare GCSE and A-level requirements across degree apprenticeships. An employer's programme overview can explain the usual route; the current vacancy tells you what this particular application requires.
What would you actually do?
UBS says the asset management apprentice would coordinate client-related work, produce performance and risk reports, and learn how its investment business operates. That is a stronger clue than the word “finance” in the title. Think about whether you want to understand investments and explain their performance to others, rather than only whether you like maths.
There is also a live Investment Bank Chief Operating Office apprenticeship in London. That advert, reference 342215BR, describes working across bank business areas, analysing how operations run and helping implement changes. It lists the same ABB, English 5 and Maths 6 thresholds, and a Level 4 to Level 6 path. The day-to-day emphasis is different. Read both adverts before choosing a team.
UBS says school leaver applications are considered on a rolling basis. The visible asset management and Chief Operating Office adverts gave no closing date when checked. An empty deadline is a reason to check the job board regularly, not evidence that you have months. Our application tracker advice can help you record the reference, the date you checked it and what UBS tells you.
What to do before you submit
- Check the grade line. The asset management advert asks for ABB at A level or equivalent, plus English Language GCSE at grade 5 and Maths GCSE at grade 6. It says A levels must have been completed between September 2025 and September 2027. If an equivalent qualification or predicted grade is your situation, get the employer's answer rather than guessing.
- Prepare one example that fits the work. The asset management advert asks applicants to show how experimental, responsible use of AI can improve outcomes and efficiency. Describe something you actually tried, how you checked the result and what you changed. Do not invent a project to fit the line.
- Clarify the qualification in writing. Ask which Level 6 standard, degree enrolment and progression conditions apply to this specific vacancy. The two UBS pages use different degrees of certainty.
- Apply through the UBS job board. The advert has an Apply button. UBS's school leaver page says its process begins with an online application and CV, followed by assessments that depend on the business area. Read your invitation for the actual sequence and dates.
The part worth deciding
A four-year apprenticeship is a long commitment to a kind of work. Asset management and bank operations both sit inside finance, but the descriptions ask you to picture different working weeks. Read the tasks, ask about the degree, and choose the role you can explain wanting to do.
ApprenticeWizard tracks live apprenticeships and internships across the UK, with a free application tracker to keep the details together. The vacancy and database figures above were checked on 29 October 2026. Start your list here.
